The 9th edition of the Cigna International Organisations seminar took place in Madrid, Spain on 14th June. This edition covered the topic of Sustainable Health Care through Affordability and Personalisation. Specifically, the seminar examined the role partnerships, prevention and data play in creating a sustainable health care model; as well as how International Organisations can fulfil their duty of care by offering their globally mobile staff members affordable and personalised health care. 100 guests from over 40 organisations attended the seminar.

Networking began the day before with a guided tour of the Reina Sofia museum. The tour was followed by a dinner at a neoclassical palace where Jason Sadler, President Cigna International Markets, gave the guests a welcoming toast.

Arjan Toor, Cigna CEO International Organisations & Africa kicked off the seminar with a keynote speech on the need for Personalisation and Affordability in health care. A panel of expert speakers then explored the many challenges and opportunities regarding affordability in the current environment.

In addition to the presentations, there was also an interactive panel discussion between representatives from clients, health care partners and Cigna’s Chief Medical Officer for International Markets, Dr José Quesada. The discussion provided an opportunity to gain clients’ perspectives and confront these as a reality check with the perspectives of health care providers and Cigna as the insurer.

Participants could also choose to attend one of three breakout sessions on innovations in health care services that were facilitated by Cigna’s Global Innovation team, led by Bart Jordens, Global Innovation Manager.

I thought the topic was very well-chosen. Affordability and personalisation are relevant and current challenges. I can certainly apply the practical insights from the day to my organisation. I also very much enjoyed the panel discussion and innovation breakout session. – Seminar participant
