Duty of care roadshow
19 January 2017
Duty of Care is a moral or legal obligation to ensure the safety or well-being of others. For international organisations, Duty of Care means guaranteeing your staff is safe and healthy (both mentally and physically), wherever they are in the world.
Cigna NGO Health Benefits, in collaboration with Christine Williamson (Duty of Care International), initiated the concept of a Duty of Care educational roadshow. Some of the topics we looked at were critical incidents, trauma, and the role of security management.
For both events in 2016 Christine Williamson in hosted a practical workshop on her Duty of Care matrix tool. The roadshow continues in 2017, expanding on key topics gained via valuable feedback in 2016. Our intention is to take the concept one step further and transition our learnings into practical next steps.
HR budgets are always under pressure with employee benefits often viewed as a ‘nice to have’ and not a ‘must have’. It would be incredible if Cigna in partnership with Duty of Care International could transform this thinking and position Duty of Care as important to programmes as wearing a seatbelt has become to safety and security standards.
