The Cigna Foundation supports the American Red Cross and Give2Asia to provide disaster relief
14 February 2019
The Cigna Foundation is committed to working together with non-profit organisations that are creating innovative approaches to improving the health and security of individuals and communities everywhere.
Throughout 2018, the Cigna Foundation made donations to the American Red Cross and Give2Asia to assist with their disaster relief efforts.
Supporting the American Red Cross
In recognition of the scope of devastation and needs of people affected by the various natural disasters that struck America, Cigna and the Cigna Foundation responded by easing some plan members’ requirements where needed, opening up a toll-free counselling line and donating to the American Red Cross. In addition, for each disaster, the Cigna Foundation matched, dollar for dollar, up to 100,000 USD, all donations by Cigna employees in support of disaster relief.

The Cigna Foundation also funded non-profits working to provide disaster relief efforts in India and Indonesia through Give2Asia, a donor advised fund, matching dollar for dollar, up to 20,000 USD.
Cigna’s donations to Give2Asia disaster relief efforts were directed to two organisations whose work closely aligns with Cigna's health mission, Project HOPE and the IDEP Foundation. Project HOPE provides urgent medical care through static and mobile medical units and establishes a supply chain of pharmaceuticals, and medical and humanitarian supplies. The IDEP Foundation assembles and distributes essential food and sanitation items for families’ immediate recovery needs.
